Been here 3-4 times and liked it. Nice overall vibe and friendly waitress. A little pricey but a nice change of pace and a good local business to support. Go check it out!

Was spending a day in San Pedro about a week ago and found this place on Yelp - had good reviews and was walking distance from where we were at. It was super empty at lunchtime on a weekday....but it did get busy after awhile. They had a couple of dishes I wanted to try - their menu featured some very unique and tasty-sounding dishes - very tough decision but after some debating with myself - I finally decided to order Chicken Divi Divi - pasta with chicken tossed in a peanut sauce. My boyfriend ordered the other dish that I wanted to try - Gorgonzola Grits and Shrimp Scampi - it was actually on their special menu. It sounded like an interesting combination and turns out it was very good as well. My chicken divi divi was awesome and it was topped with a few big prawns. We also started with their Garlic Fries - however I wasn't as fond of it because it was a bit soggy not crispy - though very garlicky. The rest of the food was quite delicious though. The service was pretty good - the waitress was very friendly and the server was a interesting dude. The place was pretty small but had cool beachy decor. They even had a pretty interesting dessert menu but I was way too full to try anything. The prices are pretty high though per dish - 15 and up for the entrees and about 7-10 for the starters, tacos, burgers or salads. Overall I really liked the food and service so I would definitely try this place again if we are in the area again.

Beach City Grill confuses me. Based on the yelp description, I expected a hip fusion restaurant. I should have known that there aren't many trendy restaurants in San Pedro. BCG is odd. And oddly expensive. $8 is what you'll pay for a not-great single taco. In hot weather, the lack of air circulation in the restaurant makes for a sweaty meal. From what I gather, BCG brands itself as a Cuban/Cajun joint. Confusingly un-Caribbean, the menu overwhelms with options, plus the specials whiteboard adds another layer of information paralysis. The best part of the meal: flaccid sweet potato fries with feta dip. Summary: Beach City Grill serves confusing fusiony food for elevated prices, and may be the most perplexing restaurant in San Pedro.

So pricey! We have tried this place a few times because we want to like it, but every time we leave we remember that the portions are small and the bill is high. The last time we went, I tried a burger special. The burger was average and it literally had just a few blue cheese crumbles. Fries are extra, but the garlic fries are pretty good. Their desserts are delicious and they give you so many to choose from. If we ever go back it would just be for dessert. The decor is eclectic and unique. I think this place is just not for me :/

Two stars for being too pricey and leaving Unsatisfied... Starters: Cajun sweet potato fries: When they arrived they didn't look to good. Served with a creamy sweet Cajun tasting sauce, these things are addictive. Don't let the look fool you. Perfect size for 2-3 people. I ate, "Jamaican Me Cajun" sampler. Chicken: was okay. the rub was delicious but the actual chicken was dry. Blackened Grilled Shrimp: Delicious! Very tasty, good size. (Medium) Loved the taste of the grill! Andouille Sausage: Not bad, not great, just good. Fried Plantains: Dry Garlic Bread: soft and crispy! Lunch Partner ate, "Surf and Turf": Rib Eye steak wasn't that tasty. Blackened grilled shrimp Coconut Rice Garlic Mushrooms nothing special and lacked taste. Pros: It's a place in San Pedro that offers a break from the norm AND the staff is super nice and welcoming! Cons: Not worth the price. Conclusion: Both me and my lunch partner agreed. Good but not worth $23 for each plate, for lunch. If they lowered their prices a bit, I'd be inclined to try another plate.

This is actually my first yelp review and I'm sorry it's not a good one. I really wanted to like this place, I've been looking at it since I started working in San Pedro about 2 months ago. The people working were VERY nice, hence the second star, and I understand having higher prices. I asked a few questions about the veggie sandwiches and decided on the eggplant one. I work 2 blocks away, so I paid my 11 dollars and went to my desk. When I opened the box I kind of wanted to cry, there was a teeny tiny soggy sandwich, with NO side. I skipped adding avocado because it was an extra cost. Being vegetarian, this isn't the first time it's happened to me, but please Beach City, add a small salad if you're going to charge this much for a sandwich. 11 dollars is kind of absurd for a tiny sandwich with no side.

Such a rare find! I came across this place with a friend as we walked through 6th street trying to find something new to eat. From the outside, the place looks like a store. But on the inside, it's a friendly cafe. The decors are unlike any other place I've been! There are beach-themed mobiles hanging. The ceiling tiles are all individually decorated. They used beach towels as table cloths! We saw a random dictionary near the window. The chairs had bottle caps glued to it. The table where me and my buddy sat was in a corner, excluded from the other tables...with the front door kinda serving as a barrier. We both thought it would be a great seating place for dates! It took me awhile to choose what to order. There is a very wide selection, and from such a variety of cultures! There was Chinese salad, pastas with Indonesian peanut sauces, thai flavors, of course american foods, Jamaican, seafood, and good ol cajun. The menu name items had a twist to it: I saw adjectives like "awesome," "dirty." This place has such character! We ordered their watermelon lemonade because it's something you don't see every day. It was pretty good! I thought it would make a good drink to mix alcohol with too. xD I ordered the surf n turf with the thai flavored shrimp(there was also the choice of garlic flavor) and steak. For the sides, I got coconut rice, and their "dirty" rice. The steak was just ok. The shrimp was delicious!!! I recommend it. It also went well with the coconut rice! The dirty was was, unfortunately, bad. Too spicy, and it really did leave a "dirty" taste. My friend got chicken with mango salsa- worth it! And with a side order of dirty rice and some sort of potato soup. The soup was pretty good, nothing too special though. The service was pretty good too. Overall, I'd come here again and again!

This is a small San Pedro original that offers decent food and is nice for a change of pace. They offer a mix of salads, sandwiches and more extensive offerings. It may be a bit pricey compared to a chain but its worth a slight premium for something quirky and creative. Of note is that the restaurant is within walking distance of the Warner Grand Theatre and the Warner Grand Annex and the shows they offer.

Thank God this wasn't our first date or i would be single once again for dragging her into this ass crack also known as the Beach city grill. The food sucked and even more insulting was the price. Expect to pay top dollar for bottom quality. The real crime in San Pedro is places like this.

Everything here is amazing! I'd advise to try out their specialty dishes--voodoo shrimp, surf and turf, pork merengue, and of course their fried plantains and Cajun dirty rice. Desserts are something to experience as well. Pedro is an awesome cook, super friendly and Kristen the server is hospitable as ever. It's super laid back here. You'll always feel like a regular!

11/11/13: Update : To the Owners of this establishment: Continuing to have your patrons harass me on yelp only strengthens my review and the additional reviews of those whom have been displeased with your establishment. I have reported all whom continue to harass me and I will undoubtedly pass this message on to EVERYONE whom may ever by chance dine on 6th street to AVOID Your establishment . Harassing people who write valid reviews only substantiate those reviews and make you look petty. The harrasment does not deter me from leaving reviews nor will I remove this review of your establishment. The true work of a cyber bully, one who will not publish their photo or their name but hides behind yelp to harrass others. 5/13 Update, some person whom I suspect has some interest in the business contacted me today and told me "I missed out" on this restaurant and review" I do not think she has read any of the reviews , plus she's never reviewed anything on yelp. She obviusly didn't read my review as I was not critical about the food but the hours and practice of the restaurant on the busiest restaurant locale in SP. However after reading more reviews today, I am glad we DiDNT eat here and 100% never will. May 2013: FAIL! Came here last Saturday after our USS Iowa tour and it was CLOSED for LUNCH. Its tourist season, your located on the most touristy advertised street in San Pedro and you are not open on the weekends. Now that's just crazy. P.S. Opening at 5pm for dinner when you really don't have an ultra exclusive dinner menu is also nutz. The Iowa closes at 4pm for tours.. and your restaurant doesn't open till 5pm which means you are loosing business and those who don't want to wait around another hour for you to open. San Pedro Brewing Co. gladly took our cash.

Has anyone told that crazy paranoid lady who thinks she is being "harassed" by people representing the restaurant that they have really good food?! Indeed it is as the owner stated, the hours are posted, get over yourself lady (I use the term merely as respect for elders). Jalapeño Mac n cheese, chile lime blackened salmon, creme brûlée and everything else yummy and freshly made, this is a sweet spot if you love comfort food. FYI : they don't serve alcohol but there's no corkage fee if you want to bring your own spirits. All in all, yelpers it's not a review if you didn't eat there no kidding!

This is a nice little restaurant with a rather eclectic menu setup. They have the regular menu and then they have the specials on the whiteboard that the waitress props up next to your table. It's kind of confusing but the food was good. Be prepared to have your eyes roaming from the table menu to the whiteboard menu trying to decide what dish you're going to have. I have to give accolades to the Watermelon Lemonade. Delicious on a hot summer day!

The Harmonious Guide to eating Garlic Fries! su.pr/5QBqZS - by Harmonie T. Eating garlic fries is far from being a sexy activity. It's messy, it's sloppy, and it leaves you searching for your small red tin of Yelp mints. Sorry. Not even Yelp mints can help you here. But if you follow this simple guide to Beach City Grill's Garlic Fries, you just might overlook the halitosis and have an enjoyable experience. Several methods can be applied to a huge plate of double-fried fries topped with chopped garlic: THE BALANCE METHOD This is where you have a small pile of garlic balancing on a fry and you try to pick it up while getting it to your mouth without the garlic falling off. It takes skill, for sure. But it is not the most reliable method for consumption. THE STICKY SAUCE METHOD This is where you dip the fry into the provided BBQ sauce (or any sauce of choice) and stick the sauce-ed up fry into the chopped garlic to get a few pieces to stick. This method is good but only picks up the smaller pieces of garlic. THE CHOPSTICKS METHOD This is where you use two pieces of short fries (or one long one, folded in half) and tweeze the pieces of garlic in between the fries. This method is most useful for consuming the most garlic! Combinations of these methods can also be useful. My favorite is a mixture of the sticky sauce method and the chopsticks method. Either the BBQ sauce or the ketchup mixed with the Panty Ripper hot sauce makes for a flavorful adhesive. Remember, all the sauces are homemade! ALL the sauces...including the ketchup. I don't even like ketchup! I like Beach City Grill's ketchup! Now remember, Garlic Fries are just a side dish. This goes well with any of the following vegan-friendly items: - Yam Taco w/spinach, pico de gallo and garlic sauce (no cheese) su.pr/18TSHq - Carrot Curry Soup (try it with the 5 Alarm hot sauce) su.pr/3bIPFt - Grilled Eggplant Sandwich with garlic sauce (no cheese, no mayo for vegan-friendliness.) Add avocado ($1) and mushrooms ($1) for extra yummyness. su.pr/AVOgQ8 - wash it all down with freshly made Watermelon Lemonade! su.pr/6UP5aw After consuming all that garlic and garlic-sauced items, sometimes you're gonna crave something sweet. What's a vegan to do when all you see on the dessert board are cheesecakes and dairy/buttered items? Luckily, Beach City Grill's chef, Pancho, is super awesome and wants to accomodate your needs. Ask for the Fried Plantains, vegan-style and he'll cook it up without the butter and serve it without the homemade whipped cream. Dip it in a bit of raspberry coulis and you'll devour it up faster than you can thank Pancho for customizing a dessert for you! su.pr/2GoxPq Unfortunately, at the end of the meal you still reek of garlic. Don't fight it. Just accept that you won't be making out with anyone for the duration on the night. ...unless your kissing partner is into that. Hey, who am I to judge? ;P

I really enjoy the food here as well as the staff. Although we don't always bring a bottle, it is nice to know that they not only don't have a corkage fee, but also provide a bottle opener and glasses for wine. When we do leave room for dessert, they have always been excellent. Their regular menu and hours are shown on Yelp and on Beach City Grill's door. The specials menu board expand the menu quite a bit.

I have lived in Pedro my entire life and just came here for the first time last week with a long time friend who now lives outside of Pedro. By far the some of the best customer service I have had anywhere, from our waitress/hostess to Pancho the cook who has been there for 25 years (they told us how long) I cannot say enough good things about these two people. Very accommodating to being new and not really knowing what is good or not. She let my lil one try out the Mac n Cheese with jalapeno's to make sure it wasn't too spicy for her (which wasn't she tore it up and ordered that) To bringing us some garlic and cajun sweet potato fries with this feta, sour cream, mayo spice dip (sounds like a lot, but damn that was good) The menu is overwhelming. Lot's of options, but your palate must be somewhat willing to handle their creations and seasonings. It is not a normal lil diner that the appear to be on the outside. It is very...how can I describe the decor inside....colorful, is the word I'd use. The food goes with it though. It too is uniquely colorful and the tastes are unique to anything else here in Pedro, or surrounding cities in my opinion. I ordered the Thai chicken sandwich, Thai spicy peanut slaw on the side. The sandwich comes on a wheat roll, with lettuce tomato and this asian chili glaze on it, which I would recommend to ask for on the side, because it is a bit messy and sogs the bread after while. The slaw was very good, not spicy at all, but paired well with the sandwich. The best thing we had and I have craved since then is the sweet potato cajun fries and dip. I am not a fan of sweet potato fries and expected not to like them, but once I ate one, it became two, and four, then, well you get the picture. I asked if you when you order to go, does the dip come with it and she said yes, so I will def be back for those. I also had a cup of the chicken chili and lime soup with tortillas inside. I am a big fan of soups and had in my mind El Pollo Inka's lime cilantro soup (which is the best) well this wasn't it! Not even close, but was homemade you can tell and I admired that. Most places say it's homemade but it's just canned. This however is not canned, it is from scratch soup, at least that is what I got from it. Reminded me of my family's soups. Overall I will come back here, even though they are very pricey. For three of us it was $50 for lunch, that to me is pricey, but the service I tell you was great and the place has a lot of character to it. Not the same old basic set up and average service at best. No, this is a unique place with awesome service, which will challenge those with dull palate. Try it out and order the sweet potato cajun fries!!

San Pedro has a variety of restaurants, but Beach City Grill is the best, the most creative, unique and TASTIEST! Love the Sweet Potato fries with the feta dip and have NEVER found any better, the scrumptious fish tacos, the desserts (all of them!) and the owner, Larry, whose passion and tenacity have built a wonderful, ecletic and delicious San Pedro hallmark that welcomes every taste...there is jerk chicken, quesadillas with greek cheese and olives, homemade chocolate desserts that are beyond out of this world. Definitely give it a try if you are in the mood for a foodie adventure.

I was in SP and looking for a place for lunch - - I didn't know where to go, so I sat down at a bench to find some place. Since it was the middle of the day, and I was by myself, I didn't want to go to a bar / bar-scene-type of place.....according to Yelp, the best place for me was the Beach City Grill. I thought that I had walked by this place before, but when I found it, I realized that wasn't the case! I hadn't really noticed this place before (not that I'm in SP all the time or anything, but...). From the outside, it almost looks like a little coffee shop and that's what I went in expecting to find. The whole place is like vintage SP - - it's a little "cafe", but more like a diner cafe then a coffee cafe - - and there is art everywhere! The tables are covered with glass laid over actual beach towels!! The place is cute and quaint, but I have to say, I wasn't expecting too much in the way of culinary "delight"....and then I looked at the menu - tomato and basil soup, sweet potato fries, tons of vegan / vegetarian options...I actually had a HARD time deciding what exactly I should pick - I was tempted to order a bunch of sides just so that I could try a bunch of different things! The server was sweet and patient and just waited until I was ready - she never rushed me, but she did give me a couple of suggestions. In the end, I chose to try the sweet potato tacos with fresh spinach and salsa (sounds like it might not be good, right? but since it was a special and not on the menu all the time, I decided to give it a chance) and the fried plantains. When the food came, the first thing that I thought was that maybe I should have ordered more....it really didn't look like that much. But, the food was sooooo good - the sweet potato tacos were cooked to perfection, the spicy sauce made it delicious, and the sweet and spicy together made it a delicious treat. The plantains could have easily been on the dessert menu instead of the sides / appetizer menu. I didn't end up getting anything else because I was actually full!! The food was good, healthy, and makes me want to go back....which I willll be doing! :)

My friend who has been here several times spoke very highly of Beach City Grill. We came here one evening, when it was practically empty. The owner was super friendly! I ordered a salad from their whiteboard menu and an iced tea. I didn't know the iced tea would have a cinnamon taste... otherwise, I wouldn't have ordered it (only because I'm not a fan of cinnamon). I still drank the whole glass though! Oh, we also ordered the artichoke appetizers. Omg, so good. We had the Aztec chocolate cake, which was very interesting. I've never eaten dessert that has a spicy kick to it. I would have liked the cake better if it didn't have the spicy aftertaste, but that's the whole point of it! If I'm ever in the area again, I'd be down to try something else from their menu. The prices are very reasonable.

Fun atmosphere. Food was okay. Price per plate is about $5 too high for what you get. I won't be going back. There are lots of restaurants in San Pedro with better food that are far less expensive.

Delicious eggplant quesadilla. I never thought eggplant in a quesadilla would taste so good. Also, the desserts by themselves are a great reason to come here. The mahi mahi I ordered had great seasoning to it. Only downside is that the prices are too high considering that the cafe isn't in the best neighborhood around.

Amazing little cafe! A fellow vendor at Crafted at the Port of Los Angeles recommended it to me during a build day, and my partner and I swung by for lunch. Super cute little place with really friendly staff. We ordered: coffee jerk chicken sandwich angus burger half order of fries (regular) to split. Coffee came in individual french presses. Flavorful and strong! The fries were amazing, freshly cut from the potato when we ordered and then fried up. So good! A half order was super generous and more than enough for both of us to feel pretty satisfied. My jerk chicken sandwich was tasty, plenty of chicken and plantain on a whole grain bun, with fresh tomato slices and fruit salsa. Really flavorful and juicy chicken and the fruit and plantain set off the jerk flavors perfectly. But what was really amazing was the burger. Cooked to order, absolute perfection! It tasted amazing. I'll definitely be making this my go-to burger spot in San Pedro.

You are an obsession, you're my obsession... We found this place by accident in Sept 2010 and was sad to hear that they actually close for two weeks during Christmas and New Years, so I am happy to announce they are open for the 2011 year! Whoo hoo! Ever since Scott and I found this place, we have been here at least once a week and at most 4 times a week. The menu constantly changes, which keeps us coming back. Oh and don't even get me started on the desserts! Today was their first day open for the new year, well it was supposed to be yesterday and was sad when they said "sorry but we won't be open for business until tomorrow" Walked out perplexed as to where we were going to have lunch. So we make the trip again the next day to find it was open! We had gotten a warm friendly greeting by Michelle and Pancho as we have in the past and sat down to stare at the specials board. Oh, of course we took a sneak peek at the desserts board outside! Today I had the blackened salmon sandwich and Scott had the shrimp po-boy sandwich. Of course we had to have the sweet potato fries with the feta cheese dip. The blackened salmon sandwich was delicious and the shrimp po-boy was cooked to perfection! I swear I cannot eat shrimp anywhere else anymore because Pancho cooks them perfectly! Always a pleasure to start with the sweet potato fries! If you aren't a fan of sweet potato fries...these will change your mind, as they have with a few friends we have brought to this establishment. This was all washed down with their orange cinnamon iced tea, cinnamon actually increases metabolism according to Dr. Oz. Then we get to the dessert. Most of their desserts are made there, except for the carrot cake and a chocolate cake. Their cheesecakes are AWESOME! Today I went for the Spicy tamarind cheescake. If you don't like spicy, don't get this...there are other equally yummy cheesecake to get. The cheesecakes are not heavy, like others and the taste is like no other. When you take a bite of the spicy tamarind cheesecake, your tastebuds will be delighted and then the spicy hits you. Not too spicy, but just enough! 5 stars Beach City Grill...and I missed you the last two weeks of December!

Came here on a rainy Friday afternoon on our way to Crafted. We weren't aware of the hours and came just after they had closed at two. We were at the door looking over the menu when one of the employees opened the door and insisted we come in. The ambiance made us feel like we were in a beach shack somewhere in the Caribbean, which was a nice respite from grey clouds and rain. I ordered the Cajun Sampler plate and m'lady got the vegetarian sandwich. Everything on the sampler plate was super tasty. The chicken was spicy and tender, the beans were unique and of course, the plaintains were delicious. GF's vegetarian sandwich was tasty, the grilled veggies were pretty standard, but the sauce made the sandwich. The service was great, the guy who let us in also served us and was very accommodating, especially after they had closed for the afternoon. Definitely recommend this local spot, lots of character and great flavor!

Beach City Grill is celebrating its 20th year in business, and that says a whole lot. I myself was celebrating yesterday afternoon, on election day, so confidant was I that my candidate would later win, and he did. I would have been in this cafe much sooner except they've been closed whenever I'm in the area, usually on weekend days. They're open Tuesday - Friday 11am to 2pm, 5pm to 8pm. Saturday 5 - 8pm. Closed Sunday & Monday. So yesterday they were open and I took advantage of the opportunity. And I was floored by the eclectic charm of the interior and by the Carribean fusion menu. I had no idea.....thought the place was just for routine sandwiches. My server, probably the scary one who is mentioned in a couple of previous reviews haha, was indeed a little off-putting. But I think it's just her personality and she means no disrespect. Her Obama '08 tee was good enough for me! Where to begin..... The interior, the music.......made me want to dance. A Jimmy Buffet song turned out to be prophetic: "Oh the mortars they roar In anticipation Proceeding the sigh Of the uplifted eyes It showers us all In sulfuric sensation The colors shine And a fiery rhyme tonight The rockets in the air (Ooooh...) And the people everywhere Won't you put away your differences for a while I am but a child When it comes to something wild Oh that was the night I painted the sky......." The scene that came later in Grant Park is what I mean. And that's the place I watched the fireworks to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's "Stars & Stripes Forever", as a child. So, I had an Angus burger with grilled onions at no extra charge. My server asked if I'd like some mustard or ketchup and I mentioned BBQ sauce. She came back with home made ketchup and barbecue sauce. See photo. In fact, see all the 15 pics I posted, I got a bit carried away..... Next time I'm not getting a burger. The other choices included: Blackened shrimp soft taco $8.50 Jamaican jerk chicken soft taco with plantains & fruit salsa $7.50 Cuban roast pork sandwich $10.95 Grilled salmon with pumpkin seed sauce $16.95 Voodoo shrimp served with Cajun dirty rice $16.95 Gumbo YaYa $15.95 Salad dressings included: chipotle lime, creamy feta, fresh basil vinaigrette, Jamaican pepper lime vinaigrette.... Oh and the dessert board says that desserts have no calories if you share, who knew!! Ya gettin' hungry? Beach City prides itself as being "an uncommon restaurant" and that it is. I'll be bringing my out-of-town guests here. And the San Pedro Arts District surrounds the restaurant, and it be one of my fave places. yelp.com/biz/san-pedro-a… Walk to the waterfront, to the dancing fountain park, too. Could a day get any better or more exciting than yesterday turned out to be? "Scratch my back with a lightning bolt......"

There's almost nothing better for me than finding a small (under 10 table) eatery that serves absolutely marvelous food that regular people can afford. Cool surfing and hot sex will always top that but a girl has to eat sometime and when invited to a lunch at Beach City Grill, I jumped at the offer having heard much about this tiny local 'Pedro establishment. It's truly an uncommon restaurant in a sea of commonality. Walking into the corner cafe, I was blown away with the colorful and Carib-eclectic artwork that flowed disjointedly from the floors to the walls and even the ceiling. Call it something akin to a "Surfer Joe drops 3 hits of LSD for the Dia de Los Muertos" with surfboard-topped VW vans cruising mythical Latin villages populated with multi-hued iguanas and black and white skeletons. I loved it. The chef-owner, Larry Hodgson, offers incredible mouth-watering entrees and custom desserts that you won't find anywhere this side of Jamaica, Caribbean or Thailand, all graced with his unique touch and an appreciation for spice. We started with the mushroom and garlic stick appetizer and shared a wonderful feta-mushroom quesedilla, an "Ultimate Chicken" sandwich full of seemingly contrasting flavors that melded into a deliciously scrumptious sammie and ended our affair by splitting the Aztec "Magical" Choc-Choc cheesecake with "a hint of habanero". Did you catch that? A cheesecake with habanero. I was so intrigued by this description, I closed my eyes for the first bite, let the dark chocolate take its course, tasted the cheesecake and waited for the habanero. I didn't have to wait long as it began with a tingling on the tongue, then subtly warming the back of my throat whereupon I looked at my companion and declared "Hot damn, it works!" If you're looking for something uniquely delicious, something uncommonly good in a sea of chain eateries, burger joints and malls, check out Beach City Grill. Bring an appetite, a taste for adventure and leave the acid for Surfer Joe (or the reviewer, haha).

My Question: "If I were only going to be here 1 time, what you want me to have from here?" (Note: I have never, EVER, regretted following through on the answers I've received to this.) Their answer (in the chicken or fish category): "BBQ Chicken Sandwich and half order of cajun sweet potato fries." Although I was little hesitant on the sandwich recommendation, I knew I'd never regretted following through on this. The FRIES were off the charts! The BBQ Chicken Sandwich was WAY better than I had anticipated. Special note, the homemade ketchup should be in every home that likes delicious things!

This is the best food in San Pedro by far. Larry and Pancho are master chefs that put time and love into every dish they create. Also, Larry makes the best pies, cakes in the southbay. My wife and I go here at least once a week.

Hidden Gem. I had forgotten about this place, about 10 to 15 years ago a few of the city employees at San Pedro City Hall had recommended it. It took a bit of circling around to find it, not obvious from the street. When we got the menu, I remembered what it was all about, there were so many interesting choices that I had a hard time deciding. Not just the usual stuff that you see over and over. An eclectic mix, Italian, Cajun, Mexican and Caribbean (the owner grew up on one of the islands, just like myself). Basically just tasty food that has been popular over the decades. There are also blackboard specials. The owner had managed to find goat at one of the local stores, so no question the order was curry goat, which was fantastic. Also had one of the Italian soups. And definitely get the watermelon lemonade if it's summertime. We noticed that the cajun fries were on half the tables, but decided to skip the calories and have a dessert instead. It was a raspberry lime icebox dessert, refreshing and with just a touch of cream. Didn't feel guilty at all. I was amazed that these are all house-made desserts. This is exactly the sort of restaurant that Gordon Ramsay should NOT get his hands on. More expensive than a fast food joint but really a good value. And it was the cafe in the movie Ten Inch Hero.

Pretty disappointed. The food was pretty good, nothing amazing. I ordered 1 shrimp taco, 1 watermelon lemonade and an order of fries (large plate for the kids). The bill was $20. SO not worth that much money. The server asked me if I wanted 2 tacos when I was ordering, each taco is $9 so that would've been $18... not large tacos, mind you. Sheesh, no thanks. Way overpriced!

I randomly came across this while wandering San Pedro the other night, and it's a super cute little diner. I got a Jamaican taco- brilliant idea- jerk chicken w plantains and fruit salsa on top. The only thing that was disappointing was the quality of the chicken- which I was surprised at- 2 pieces of gristle in one small taco? Such a shame- because it was tasty, but it would have been amazing with shredded breast meat instead of rubbery grisly chicken :( The dessert, however, phenomenal. I'm really glad i left on sweet note. I had chocolate cheesecake covered in caramel, that had a chili kick. SO GOOD!

We decide to try this restaurant last week, I won't go back. I ordered from their big board that list their specials of the day. I chose the "Jamaican Steak served with rice and plantain. When she brought my dish at the table, I saw there was no plantain on the plate, I asked the server, she was busy talking with some people when she put my plate on the table, she stopped her conversation and said: Oh! we're out of plantain. For $25.00 I would have like to know that before cause I love plantain, no replacement veggie offerd either, just the steak with no steak knife and a sorry looking bit of rice that wasn't good either, steak was OK. Poor service, food not good enough for the price.

I love this place. Food and service was excellent. My only complaint is I wish they were open on Sunday and Monday because those are my days off and normally when I'd visit Pedro. I love the tacos , especially yam, pasta Aruba. And amazing deserts. Oh and yes you should have the watermelon. Lemonade. But if you want wine bring your own and they don't charge a corkage fee. Now that's awesome .

I visited this place the thursday night before July 4th weekend. I was feeling REALLY low when my guy broke up with me. I came in so emotionally beaten down that I was wandering around wondering what to do with my life... I ventured in just 15 minutes before closing, and I was greeted not only by the wonderful people that worked there, but the group of artists that sat at the table next to me. I came in energy depleted, and I left with a warm feeling in my heart. BTW....you have GOT to try their spiced Iced Tea. WHOA....the BEST tea I have ever tasted (and I've been around the world). I have found Nirvana, and want to support this establishment as much as possible... This place is AWESOME and deserves your patronage...they're BEYOND wonderful.

Came here for Lunch and this place rocks!! The staff is so friendly and humble almost like a family type atmosphere lots of regulars come here. First off location is rough and tough because of metered street parking. The place is small. The hours are Tues to Fri 11am-2pm and 5pm to 8pm Sat only opened 5pm-8pm closed on Sun and Mon. The menu changes weekly they come up with different dishes all the time and rotate them so if you go you'll always experience something new. All their sauces are homemade they do offer the regular sauces as well but the homemade ones have all the tasteful spiceful tastes. I had the grilled shrimp Po Boy sandwich which was awesome the shrimps were made to perfection and also had sweet potato fries which were good and had the right amount spices on them. Their iced tea is homemade as well with a hint of cinnamon in there excellent taste. The desserts are to die for like i said pretty much everything is homemade even the whip cream on the desserts which was very light how whipped cream should be. I had the 3 berry 2 chocolate cheese cake it was awesome and wasn't heavy or crazy sweet like CheeseCake factory. Their desserts also rotate as well so you'll always see something new or something you didn't see from the last time. Also the cook Pancho mentioned if you come up with a dish that's good they will make and serve it for a week if it's a hit with customers. If this place had better parking and later hours i'd be here weekly. I highly recommend this place.

Ok, still stuffed, but I have to say this was an interesting place. I am from Mesa, AZ and I was looking for a place to eat and found the Beach City Grill on my walk. If you are looking for some good different flavors, this is the place. Take a seat near the door as that is where the AC works the best. I recommend the Cajun Sweet Potato Fries with the feta cheese sauce. My wife had a jerk chicken taco which she thought was very good with the plantains and I had a mac and cheeseburger (not what you would imagine) that was quite tasty. Burger was juicy....check...mac and cheese was a ziti pasta with a few cheeses, put together with the burger made it very good. We brought a coupon that was printed in error for their restaurant so they gave us a free desert anyway. As far as atmosphere it was like being in your favorite aunt's kitchen while she served you. Well done! Be sure to check the hours ahead of time as they close after the lunch rush and reopen right before dinner.

Came here on my way to the San Pedro Courthouse for lunch. Loved the feel of the place and the menu on the whiteboard outside the door was inviting with its list of fresh california-esque entrees. I ordered the house-made veggie burger and it was very flavorful, the best I've had in recent memory. The waitress also brought over some mustard and kethcup options, two of which were homemade! I think this was the first time I'd had homemade ketchup and it was really good - a little spicy a little tangy. Only drawback was that It was a bit pricey, $8.95 for the burger and it didn't come with any sides. But I'd rather pay bit more for food like this, than pay a bit less and end up with one of the many mediocre meals I've had over my lifetime.

Solid 5 stars for bringing a unique combination of flavors to the table. This cafe is decorated with parrots, paintings and other funky objects that you would find at the bottom of a toybox. Everyone was really friendly and made wonderful reccomendations. I had the yam taco with blue cheese and spinach. The flavors were random at first but then they somehow fuse and work...like forest gump and jenny... The condiments are made from scratch and the iced tea is delicious (was infused with cinnamon and orange). A must visit!

I come to San Pedro occasionally for business and have been to Beach City Grill at least 6 times now. I've ordered something different every time and everything is masterfully prepared by Larry or Pancho (tuesday and wednesdays). Larry has a personal touch on every dish that brings out wonderful flavors and aromas. He and Pancho are very personal with all guests. They take great pride in their work, and enjoy a chat about the meal. My favorite part is the atmosphere! Very laid back, corner diner style with awesome people and even better dishes! One important detail - Bring your own boos. A bottle of wine or a few beers is totally cool to bring, he just doesn't sell them. I get the watermelon lemonade. This place is a gem! I will go there every at least once every time I'm in town.

A local's favorite. We started with a basket of sweet potato fries. They were on the skinnier side and heavily dusted with spices. The homemade ketchup was also rather spicy. I was feeling Cajun-ish so I asked about the jambalaya but that isn't served with rice so I went with the seafood gumbo. There were three large shrimp (tail-on) and several chunks of fish. About half-way through, I was starting to feel the accumulation of spice. My iced tea was also cinnamon-spicy. I think I probably chose the wrong order of items because while I enjoyed all the flavors, they were becoming muddy, too hot for me after a while. They have a huge selection of desserts. We went with the server's personal favorite, the Azteca cheesecake. Oh man, this thing has spice in it too but it's subtle. Prices are a little steep. Two drinks, sweet potato fries, two entrees and dessert ran $50 for lunch.

Update!!! After a long time of not going back to Beach City Grill, we decided to stop in the other night, and find out for sure if the Grouchy waitress was really gone or not. Well- let there be fireworks and a parade tonight on 6th Street- cause yes, my fellow Yelpers, she is Long Gone! Heard she moved to the Virgin Islands about a year ago- and that be fine by me!! Mighty Fine indeed!!! Hmm, isn't that where Hannibal Lecter went in Silence of The Lambs?? The new waitress , Michelle by name, was friendly, and polite . Hell, she even smiled alot and had a good sense of humor which that place needed really bad! The owner, (chef ) has always been nice -and of course the food is still the same- GREAT!!! I had a BIG FAT GREEK FETA CHEESEBURGER and those great HAND CUT FRIES.. We will be back soon as long as there is still a happy atmosphere there- Thanks" Bitch" City Waitress for leaving!! Oops! I meant" Beach "City Waitress- or did I ?????

I took my family here after trying this restaurant on a business trip. I thought it was fabulous so I wanted to get their picky take on it. Every last one of them LOVED it! We all got something different and all of us loved what we got. There isn't a bad thing on the menu and their desserts....WOW!! Delicious, everything is delicious. Oh and if you are a spicy food fanatic, this is the spot for you. They do not skimp on the spices and we are VERY particular about our food being spicy enough. This place is a must!

I met a friend there and had to wait a bit. But the waitress, Michelle, was very pleasant. The food is amazing! I had the Jamaican Jerk burger and it was a pretty hefty burger, that I could only eat half of it. I wish I would have had room for their infamous sweet potato fries. I would definitely go back!

Went for dinner with my family and my parents and it was fantastic. It is a small very local place, informal and fun. Great service. The regular menu is long on sandwiches, burgers and cajun/caribbean influenced dishes. The specials menu is huge and eclectic. They had a shrimp specials menu for "shrimp week". Mom had Thai lime shrimp tacos. Dad had surf and turf with thai shrimp as the surf. Wife had caribbean jerk shrimp tacos. I had 10-spice asian pork ribs. Kid 1 had italian stuffed shrimp. Kid 2 had a shrimp burger. Kid 3 had "9 shrimp 3 ways". Sides were chili spiced sweet potatoe fries with feta dipping sauce, mac and cheese, green beens with bacon and rosemary, rice pilaf, mushrooms and garlic, cucumber and feta salad. Every bite of every dish was delicious. We were blown away. We all had the special drink--watermelon lemonade that was tasty. Desert menu is heavy on exotic cheesecakes. We had a hula pie, a buttterscotch/chocolate/caramel cheesecake, a key lime and jalapeno cheesecake, a white chocolate cheesecake, and a 3 berry 2 chocolate cheesecake, . Delicious! The only negative is, as people mentioned it is a bit pricey. $175 for all of the above--$25 each. But I consider it reasonable for the quality we got.

"AN UNCOMMON RESTAURANT "The food prepared by Pancho, who is the Chef, makes magic with his cooking skills. And Michelle is the greatest hostess ever. This little intimate spot always has me coming back for more. We always start with the Cajun Potato Fries. OMG to die for. Also try the hot sauce, its called "Panty Ripper" with their homemade ketchup!! SO BOMB!! You also can never find burgers like these elsewhere! The blue cheese burger on wheat with grilled onions. FABULOUS...the CHIPOTLE BBQ BACON BURGER, you cant just order once! They also carry tacos, Yam tacos, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Shrimp taco with Thai chili-lime. Ooooooh, why are you guys still reading, just come in, you will never regret making it into BEACH CITY GRILL. I have almost tried everything on the menu, but its just too much typing!! GO, hurry!! then you will know why our family and friends enjoy coming here repeatedly!! oh by the way, the desserts are so deliciously gooooooooood that there are no calories if you share!! Try the AZTEC!!!

This place has an unpretentious, funky vibe and backs it up with some bangin' food. I've been here twice while visiting my dad (who is such a regular that he doesn't even have to order), and both the Jamaican jerk chicken sandwich and the soap de lima were delicious. Definitely a fun little gem in the San Pedro area.

This is a tiny little place with a large menu mostly comprised of fish. Believe me, everything on the menu sounds great. They always like to throw in a somewhat eclectic group of ingredients that you've never tried together before. Also, you have to try their dessert. Apparently, their pastry chef has won several awards and judging just by what's on the dessert menu, I'm not surprised. Everybody I know loves the Meyer lemon-tangerine-key lime cheesecake.

A couple friends first introduced me to Beach City Grill near 6th and Pacific in San Pedro A few months back! What a find!!! When you arrive you are greeted by the friendliest of staff that are happy to seat you and bring the Daily special Menu board to your table!! You always have a long list of New Items every week to choose from along with the favorites... Mine being the "Po boy" Sandwich!! I recommend the Garlic fries to start with some of their special dipping sauces, Hot sauces and The best homemade Ketchup I have had! If you are a Meat lover as i am You have to try the Hamburgers! The meat is High quality and they always have a new Burger on the menu. Now the best part comes at dessert time when the waitress brings you a giant special board with all kinds of cheesecakes that change by the season... Honestly i have never had a Cheesecake like this one!! But i am hooked!! My favorites being the Triple berry and the Spicy ones!! It's a Cool little spot in the Neighborhood i recommend highly!! Hmmm what new Cheesecake do they have out now...

A small space, one amazing chef, and one busy irritable lady. Oh yeah the best food in Pedro. Order the garlic fries, request the original ketchups. They make their own ketchups. Yeah, pretty cool, what did you do today, besides yelp like a fatass. I love their soups. Their specials are a plenty and everchanging and always features new dishes, soups, and desserts. Try anything you won't be disappointed. I always get something new, but besides soup I lean towards their grilled fish dishes. So good. I had the best swordfish sandwich of my life here. Only thing though do not get the soup to go. Or anything hot for that matter, it melts through. The place is small, but try to eat there. And be nice to the waitress she does not take crap. And if you forget to tip, she'll curse you're retarded ass out, like she did to Mykel and Hector. Damn, can't bring those guys anywhere...

Are you kidding me?? These reviews are a joke. Went in with the girlfriend for a quick meal in Pedro. PLEASE PLEASE go to Senfuku, SP Brewing or ANYWHERE ELSE. This is honestly the worst restaurant experience I've had in San Pedro or anywhere in the South Bay probaably. I ordered the chicken taco with rice and she had the Shrimp Pasta. We also had a diet coke and water. The chicken taco... I kid you not.. had a HUGE bone in it. The pasta was also over cooked and terrible she told me. After the owner FINALLY came over to us, he LAUGHED at me when I pointed to the disgusting bone I'd chewed through. LAUGHED! He did not take it off the receipt and when I got the check (+2 trucked in desserts) it was $60!! This place is terrible over-priced and you can get WAY better food on 6th street. I know the bone made the experience especially bad, but the interior was also disgusting and anyone can contend to this. AVOID!!!!

Ok so as most of you Pedro locals know, there used to be a gal here that worked for many many years that was TERRIBLE. I went in about 10 years ago with my husband and she was rotten. Scowled at clients, major attitude. BUT...she's gone! She's been gone a few years we are told. Started going back here recently and the food is so fresh and tasty. Had the salmon and chicken soup along with cucumber salad, tasted like they had a garden out back. Food wasn't immediate, they were cooking with love back there. Great service and we will be coming back frequently. Pedro needs more good places like this. Quality places. We live local and always drive to Redondo or Torrance so this may be out new hangout

I have been coming here since I was little. I always remember the fries being really good and the towels under the glass tabletops. My brother and I would pick our booth by the towel it had. It had been a while but in the past year I have been here about 3 times. The first two times I got the amazing eggplant sandwich, it seems harmless but it tastes so good it has to be 1,000 calories! Then my dad and I came here on a Wednesday after my workout so i was trying to be good. he ordered the corn chowder, it was good, but personally I'm not a soup a fan, so it has to be exceptional for me to eat it. He got the salmon with sunflower seed sauce, it was fantastic!! I got the mahi mahi with pineapple, it was special. he liked mine more, so we switched. we both got the veggie stick for a side which was so yummy (i liked mine since it was original and his was garlic)! we also both had the cucumber salad which was really good, but not as healthy as i was hoping since it was very creamy. I know they say dessert has no calories when split, but i had just been to the gym, so we decided to be good. I'll have to come back when i want to be sinful.

Went here with a colleague for dinner after a meeting last week... We saw the restaurant had good reviews so what the heck..we'll try it! Walked in and thought there was a bit too much going on in terms of decor (definitely something Gordan Ramsay or Robert Irvine would say!), but whatever...it's a mom & pop place. Sat down...was super excited to try their garlic fries. Ordered the garlic fries to share with my colleague who ordered a burger. I ordered the Gumbo Yaya. Waitress came back to us and told us they were out of...guess what? POTATOES!!! WHAAAAT? Yes, they were out of potatoes...not sure how that even happens since I would think you can easily get potatoes at a grocery store if needed. Bummer...got me thinking about the garlic fries at Dodger games! Anyway, we got our dinner about 10-15 minutes later...I was excited to dig into the gumbo. I dug in...and it was just EH. It was okay...I wouldn't say it was the most terrible dish ever, but I wouldn't say it was "good" either. The dirty rice was a bit mushy for my taste...the chicken didn't taste very fresh. But my colleague thought her burger was good! Hence the 3 stars instead of 2.

I have eaten at Beach City Grill 5 or 6 times, usually for lunch and once for dinner. There is limited street parking and a public lot about a block away. The restaurant has a funky decor, very Caribbean. The chairs and booths are in need of repair or replacement.. The food here is outstanding and very unique. I've never eaten anything here that was not good. Where this place fails is its service. The waitress/hostess (same person) just acts like customers are the biggest inconvenience, and is annoyed when asked for anything! The group I was with last time we ate there for lunch ordered a plate of french fries. They were delivered well ahead of the entrees and we were not offered small plates to place individual servings on. One person in our party asked "do you have any ketchup?" the waitress' response was "yeah... do you want some?" (no, we just wanted to know if you carried ketchup!) Despite my saying "thank you" for everything she brought to the table, not once did she respond with "you're welcome." Heck, she never even cracked a smile! I don't know if they offer free refills on soft drinks as she never checked back on us after serving our food. She has had this demeanor every time we go there, which is usually once every year or two! Despite the food being really good, I refuse to patronize a place that treats its customers so poorly. So, only one star from me, and no more visits until things improve!

All I can say is wow. I had been wanting to go to this place for months, but their hours are a bit funky so I never caught it when it was open. I finally did, and boy am I glad! The owner brought out a plate of Cajun sweet potato fries for us and... Oh my Lord. I have never had something with such a complicated and delicious flavor. I had shrimp and cheesy polenta which was extremely mouth watering. Then I ordered a piece of cheesecake with caramel, butterscotch, chocolate and an oreo crust. I will never forget that! Every bite was another sensation! We stayed here chatting a long time and both the cook and owner were super sweet, accommodating, and friendly. I will continue to go back!! Loved it.

My wife and I had been meaning to try this place for awhile. We walked in and sat down noticing that the was only one other table occupied. We perused the menu, tapped our feet for awhile, gazed out the window, read the menu some more until we realized that we were not going to be waited on anytime during our lifetime. We walked out on the strangest non-eating experience we have ever had.

I have a friend who just moved to the area so we thought we'd check out some local places. Were referred to this place from the owner of Off the Vines. We bought a bottle of wine and then proceeded down the street for lunch at Beach City Grill. Luckily, on our way out of the wine store the guy "warned" us that the woman (owner?) who waits on you at Beach City Grill is rather, ahem, gruff. (to say the least). He wasn't kidding either. They do seem very irritated that you are even in there ordering their food. (or at least she does) However, I still give the place 4 stars because the food is that good. Maybe that's why they are rude to you? Because they know how good the food is and you'll come back anyway? Who knows. Just be forewarned, and dont get discouraged by the awful, horrible way that you'll be treated when you walk in there the first time. My advice, leave a giant tip (which we did). She was very nice to us as we walked out the door. :) (hopefully she will remember us next time). haha

Killer menu, super eclectic and always something you've never had, but glad you did once you have. There everything from cuban style entreés with coconut rice and plantains to watermelon lemonade, all home-made. They always bust out this long white board full of options for that day and then a full menu. There's also tons of options for dessert and lets face it, if you can't find something that intrigues you on this menu, somethings up. The decor is colorful/hippie-dippie and the waitstaff is super personable/quick. It's just a cozy place to have a unique dinner in the heart of downtown Pedro for the amount you'd pay for bland bargains at your local chain restaurant.

I've been making my way down 6th Street trying all the restaurants. Thursday was Beach City Grill day. I've heard the food was great and that it had a cozy atmosphere. Okay I'm game. My friends and I sat ourselves down, alrighty cozy so far. The waitress is too swamped to share the specials that she takes the huge white board that is outside and faces it toward our table hoping that we understand what's going on. The menu was all over the place. Is this place suppose to be Greek? Mexican? Caribbean? Let's go with fish tacos! All the reviews were raving about how fantastic all their dishes are.......Obviously everyone at my table ordered the wrong thing. FAIL. Funny how a chill atmosphere and cute knicknacks on the wall suddenly become really tacky once you've tried the overpriced food served by the shittiest waitress.

This chef-owner hole in the wall is my favorite casual drop-in spot in Pedro. Funky to the core, the ever changing Caribbean-based menu is a delight, and the Cuban medianoche or roast pork platter is my idea of heaven on earth. But the real reason for coming here is the dessert menu -- they have the best pastry chef in town. Forget diet and enjoy the calories. No wine-beer license, so bring your own end enjoy no corkage fee, which makes dining out here in style really reasonable. Complaints: I think they close too early -- if you dine at 8, it is too late to eat here, which means the lose a lot of my would-be business.

  • Shannon S.

Look Yelpers. There's nobody rude here. The waitress is lovely and the cook mingles with the guests. Fair warning: Yes its a hole in the wall, but its not cheap at all. Actually quite the opposite a lil' overpriced. Seriously don't get me wrong its good food, but $50.00 with tax and tip for a lunch is a tad too much. She refilled our ice tea with out asking which is usually great but we got charged for it and he didn't really want a refill. The ice tea has like a bucket of cinnamon in it. Its okay, but kinda strange. We had an order of sweet potato fries. A lil soggy and way over seasoned. The homemade ketchup and other dipping sauce was fantastic very very good. I had the Chinese chicken salad. Simple and good. Good amount of grilled chicken and the dressing was very good. The hubby had the salmon with the cucumber salad and mushrooms. The salmon was good and the glaze was different but good. The cucumber salad was more my kinda thing but he liked it. The feta cheese they used was really really good. Mushrooms were not to our liking. A little to much oil and garlic for us. Anyway this is a cool little local place. I would say if your tired of the same old thing to come here for something fresh and different. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place for an everyday standby cause of the price.

This place used to have the juiciest, most delicious burgers but one nasty, incredibly rude waitress. We braved her horrible attitude a few times, just to get the burgers, but after a few times, it just wasn't worth it. Then we heard she'd left, so today, we tried it again... The server was nice, but our burgers & sandwiches were dry, way overcooked and completely flavorless. The cooks took forever to prepare them, (even though we were the only ones in there) spending the whole time chatting amongst themselves & not noticing the life, juice & flavor were being burned out of them. The fries were flaccid & greasy too. We would have added some condiments to them to enable our ability to choke it all down, but what was provided was "homemade" & far worse than the usual standards (Heinz, etc). This was absolutely the last straw & a complete waste of $30, thousands of calories & our time. We will not be back.

I've been to Beach City Grill twice now. The first time it was great, the second time not so much. My fish was over cooked, the soup was bland, the risotto was hard. I will say that the mango sauce was great. My friends all loved their food,so I may have been having a bad night? The place was packed with regulars that thought the chief was the best. I have to question it. I will try it once more hopefully I just had a bad night. I do have to say, the turtle pie was to die for. That alone should get 5 stars!

My favorite place to eat dinner in San Pedro. I really like the chicken tortilla soup to start. The food has a Carribbean flair, is great and the desserts... well, all you need to know is that the owner, Larry is an award winning chef. There is always a new and intriguing dish or appetizer that Larry has come up with that you can try. And as the dessert board clearly states "there are no calories if you share"

Beach City Grill rocks! What a surprising delight. I had the Miami Vice Shrimp with Coconut Rice. It was delicious. And Michelle (the waitress) was absolutely great. She made me feel right at home.

All I can say is sweet potato fries with feta dip, omg. Although last time I was there the fries were limp, not crispy like they normally are cooked. I sent them back and they came back better. Also, the desserts are amazing but a little pricey. The waitress is rude but she warms up after 10 or so visits...ha ha. I usually don't put up with rude servers but the nice owner/chef (I think her husband) makes up for her behavior. The menu is creative and the place is small with a nice vibe.

One of my favorite places to eat! I looooove their thai chicken sandwich. The food is always fresh and their desert menu along with special menu is always changing giving me a variety of dishes to pick from every time I am there. It has a Carribean/ Jimmy buffet-ish theme, the owner being from Aruba might have something to do with that! Other than that I know people have complained about their waitress (who in fact is not his wife) and the horrible attitude she shells out, but the food is worth the attitude!

Here are my 2 reasons for going to Beach City Grill. The roast Cuban pork and the desserts. But everything is good. One of my other favorites is a sandwich with grilled eggplant and roma tomatoes. Delicious!!

mmmmm. Funky decor, and excellent Cuban roasted pork. The dishes are California cuisine meats, salads and sandwiches. The recipes are as funky as the decorations with great sauces and takes on traditional dishes (chipotle pesto chicken sandwich). I'll be back!

I just had lunch here with my brother. We both had soup, ice tea and split the Cuban Pork Sandwich. Everything was tasty and the service was good. However when the bill came and we realized we spent over $35.00 including tip we were surprised. I have had much better lunches that haven't cost nearly that much. So go if you must but just be prepared to pay more than you should.

Ate there for the first time last night, and it was amazing. The burger and sweet potato fries were both pretty good; taking it over the top was the awesome service (glasses always full, waitress friendly and polite, and to top it off, when we waited more than five minutes for a complicated dish, they gave us a free dessert) and the desserts. The plantains, bread pudding, and peach pie were all absolutely fantastic.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
